Dr. Judy A. DeMorest, Au.D., CCC-A
Doctor of Audiology
Dr. DeMorest joined Sound Hearing Instruments in August 2023 and has been practicing Audiology for over 35 years. Dr. DeMorest received her Doctor of Audiology degree from The Arizona School of Health Sciences and both her Master of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in Communication Disorders/Audiology from the University of Northern Colorado. She is Board Certified in Audiology by the American Academy of Audiology, holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed to practice in both MN and TX. Dr. DeMorest is also a member of the Minnesota Academy of Audiology.
Dr. DeMorest has worked in various environments ranging from ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) offices to hospitals to the University setting. She is experienced in testing pediatrics to geriatrics and was a part of the Sounds of Texas team to implement a Bill making Newborn Hearing Screening mandatory for all infants in the state of Texas.
Dr. DeMorest enjoys being back in cooler weather of MN after living in TX for many years where her son and daughter-in-law still reside. She enjoys hiking and biking with her husband and their black Labrador. She also likes spending time reading and going to the theater. She has traveled to Guatemala multiple times as part of the Faith in Practice mission to fit hearing aids on those in need.
She has a special interest in helping people understand the benefit of early amplification in relation to maintaining/improving family communication, cognitive abilities, and overall well-being. She has helped her parents with their hearing loss journey as her mother had a progressive hearing loss and had a cochlear implant, and her father also has hearing loss. Dr. DeMorest has also been wearing hearing aids for several years.
